"'While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.' Having said this, he [Jesus] spit on the ground, made some mud with the saliva and put it on the man's eyes." -John 9:5-6

FOUNDING EDITOR'S NOTE: We are entering into an age in which the Creator is giving "new and improved" ideas to His creation. Just as science knows that the universe continues to expand, so do the creations of God. We have had a mindset that since God is the ultimate healer (and He is!) man will not find new health discoveries. Nothing could be further from the truth. When God tells man you will find HIM when you seek HIM with all your heart, this, I believe includes the fact that mankind, whom Christ died for, will find HIM within the discoveries they make. Before long, man will be left with few conclusions except that God has, within HIS OWN CREATION many hidden things yet to be discovered, so that people will reach out to the Creator HIMSELF. –Steve Shultz, BCN.

(The Netherlands)—Scientists have reported in The FASEB Journal that human saliva contains a compound that greatly speeds wound healing and the compound could be mass produced, meaning it has the potential to become as common as antibiotic creams and rubbing alcohol.

"We hope our finding is ultimately beneficial for people who suffer from non-healing wounds, such as foot ulcers and diabetic ulcers, as well as for treatment of trauma-induced wounds like burns," said Menno Oudhoff, first author of the report.

According to a Newsmax report, scientists found that histatin, a small protein in saliva previously believed to kill only bacteria, was responsible for the healing.

"This study not only answers the biological question of why animals lick their wounds," said Gerald Weissmann, MD, editor-in-chief of The FASEB Journal, "it also explains why wounds in the mouth, like those of a tooth extraction, heal much faster than comparable wounds of the skin and bone. It also directs us to begin looking at saliva as a source for new drugs."
