Citing secret document, Semana, a weekly news magazine in Colombia, reported that the cheif prosecutor of that country had hired a psychic to work as part of his staff.
Mario Iguaran was considered one of the most respected politicians in the country. He said he hired the clairvoyant to help his stressed staff. The psychic not only received a monthly stipend of $1,800, but was also provided identification and an armored car for transportation. He had unlimited access to the prosecutor's office which is described as a "fortified bunker."
The hiring was even given a special code name: "Mission Perseus of Zeus."
The revelation shocked Colombians who were riveted by the ongoing developments in this case. The disclosure caused considerable concern about what is happening in one of the most important offices in Colombia. The Prosecutor's office is an independent body set up fight crime in a nation wracked by a decades' long war with powerful drug lords and terrorists.
Part of the psychic's responsibilities included hypnotizing staff who spilled the beans on fellow workers and confessed deep secrets while under. Using this information, the psychic prepared reports on staff loyalty for the prosecutor.
The psychic -- who also performed exorcisms on a voodoo doll - became a personal advisor to the chief prosecutor.
After the uproar, Mario Iguaran released the psychic and then publicly apologized for the breach of faith.
