"I felt called to something greater. At one time I thought that call might be professional soccer. In the past few years, I found my soul is hungry for something else..."

Chase Hilgenbrinck(USA)—Last Christmas, one of Professional Soccer Player, Chase Hilgenbrinck's, dreams was realized as he returned to America to play Major League Soccer for the New England Revolution.

But another dream soon began to take precedence.

According to the 26-year-old defender, he sensed God's pull to dedicate his life to the ministry. "I felt called to something greater," explained Hilgenbrinck. "At one time I thought that call might be professional soccer. In the past few years, I found my soul is hungry for something else."

This past week, Hilgenbrinck announced his retirement from professional soccer to pursue that other dream—becoming a priest.

"It's not that I'm ready to leave soccer," added the former captain of the New England Revolution's reserve team. “I still have a great passion for the game. I wouldn't leave the game for just any other job. I'm moving on for the Lord. I want to do the will of the Lord, I want to do what He wants for me, not what I want to do for myself."
